SPEECH ON HIROSHIMA DAY

Today, we gather here to remember a significant and solemn event in history—Hiroshima Day. On August 6, 1945, during World War II, the city of Hiroshima in Japan was struck by an atomic bomb. This was the first time such a powerful and destructive weapon was used in warfare. The explosion caused immense devastation, leading to the loss of many lives and long-lasting effects on the survivors and the environment.

Hiroshima Day is not just about remembering the tragedy; it's also about learning important lessons. The event teaches us the value of peace and the dangers of war. It reminds us why it's so crucial to resolve conflicts through dialogue and understanding rather than through violence.

As we remember Hiroshima, let’s think about how we can contribute to a peaceful world. Even as students, we can make a difference by being kind, resolving conflicts peacefully, and spreading awareness about the importance of peace. We can also honour the memory of those affected by promoting understanding and cooperation among people from all backgrounds.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on the importance of peace and commit ourselves to making the world a better place for everyone.

Thank you.
